Sudan Abduction & Slavery Database Project; Rift Valley Institute (webpage)
The Rift Valley Institute is an independent association based in Kenya and the United Kingdom. Among its activities is a project 'to create a useable record of persons missing, abducted, enslaved or killed in Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal since the start of the civil war, as a result of raids on Dinka, Luo and Fertit communities' from the time when the civil war restarted in 1983. This is the first known project of its type. The research was carried out by forty-eight locally-recruited Sudanese researchers. At the time of writing, the database itself is only available in Kenya and the UK.
