Kevin Carter; Puliter prize winning photographer of Sudan (webpage)

This page features the controversial photograph, by lauded photographer Kevin Carter, of a starving Sudanese girl and a waiting vulture. After capturing this image, Carter scared the bird away but left the girl alone before leaving South Sudan. Months later, he won the illustrious Pulitzer Prize for this image. Three months on, he committed suicide in South Africa.

His story was featured in Time magazine (click here) and has been criticised and analysed from many angles (see, for example, this blog). The band 'The Manic Street Preachers' wrote and recorded a song about Carter. The lyrics can be found here.
