DIASPORA

Many Sudanese people have fled their homeland to join the growing number of Sudanese people living in other countries.

Through the hard work of humanitarian organisations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Red Cross and the various host states of Sudanese refugees including Australia, Canada and Germany, the resettlement of Sudanese people in safe third countries has been made possible. The needs of the Sudanese community when they arrive and settle in these nations is the focus of research presented on this page.

Gurtong Peace Project (website)
Gurtong Peace Trust Project is an independent, not-for-profit, community-based
project, that aims at eliminating all ethnic, political or personal barriers in the
way of unity, peace and mutual respect among the South Sudanese abroad and in Sudan
itself. It also seeks to bridge the gap between the Sudanese in Sudan and the
Sudanese of the Diaspora by creating a forum for the exchange of information and the
facilitation of discussion and awareness on issues of concern to the people of South
Sudan. The website provides useful information on culture, social, political,
humanitarian issues, and development issues.
