DIASPORA
Many Sudanese people have fled their homeland to join the
growing number of Sudanese people living in other countries.
Through the hard work of humanitarian organisations, such as
the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the
International Red Cross and the various host states of
Sudanese refugees including Australia, Canada and Germany,
the resettlement of Sudanese people in safe third countries
has been made possible. The needs of the Sudanese community
when they arrive and settle in these nations is the focus of
research presented on this page.
Teen Experiences of War (website)
|
This interactive site tells the stories of 15 teenage refugees from around the world now living in the US. Two of the teenagers are from Sudan. The flash media features allow you to listen to their stories and see photographs, or you can simply read their stories in the 'transcripts' section. Young people are encouraged to move around the site and add their own comments and reflections. Additional resources for educators allow the site to be used for teaching purposes. |
