PHOTO LINKS

Images of Sudan are hard to find on the internet and elsewhere. This page hosts numerous links to sites that provide images of Sudan and the Sudanese resettlement experience. SORA encourages the exploration of these sites as a simple introduction to the circumstances from which people in the Diaspora depart.

Please be respectful of the intellectual property in these images and ask permission from the author of these sites before use of the images is made elsewhere.

Faces of Sudan (website)
This collection of portraits of Sudanese men, women and children aims to "get to the humanity of people by looking past their otherness, past the image of them as refugees and victims". Photographer Sean Kernan, who took the pictures at a refugee centre in Cairo, encourages viewers to use the photographs to understand on an individual level the experience of those who have fled Sudan. The site aims to encourage understanding and overcome stereotypes. It includes suggestions for small ways in which people can support families in the diaspora or give to organisations working in Sudan.
