DIASPORA
Many Sudanese people have fled their homeland to join the
growing number of Sudanese people living in other countries.
Through the hard work of humanitarian organisations, such as
the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the
International Red Cross and the various host states of
Sudanese refugees including Australia, Canada and Germany,
the resettlement of Sudanese people in safe third countries
has been made possible. The needs of the Sudanese community
when they arrive and settle in these nations is the focus of
research presented on this page.

Access to HIV Prevention Information in the Diaspora (.pdf)

This paper analyses access to information about HIV and AIDS for the
Sudanese and other Horn of African communities in Victoria, Australia.
It places health needs in the context of the immediate
post-resettlement period as well as highlighting strategies to overcome
health illiteracy. Of note, are pages numbered 60 - 61, 65 - 66, 84 -
85, 88 - 89, 92 and 95. These pages summarise the responses of a group
of Sudanese men to information concerning HIV and AIDS in the Diaspora.
